The Indonesian Air Force (TNI AU) will procure 102 new
armaments (alutsista) as listed in its 2010-2014 development strategic
plan.
These include F-16, T-50 and Sukhoi jet fighters; Super
Tucano and CN-295 turboprop aircrafts; Hercules transport aircrafts;
Cougar helicopters; Grobs; KT-1s; Boeing 737-500s and radars.
“In
2013, the Super Tucanos will arrive to complement the ones we already
have and F-16 jet fighters will arrive as well,” said Air Force Chief,
Air Chief Marshall Ida Bagus Putu Dunia, on Sunday as quoted by Antara
news agency.
Currently, the TNI AU has 4 Super Tucano tactical
fighters. With the new aircraft, the air force will have a total one
squadron of Super Tucano based at the 21st air squadron in Abdulrahman
