Anas
Urbaningrum is saying that an aide of President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has launched a silent campaign against the
Corruption Eradication Commission’s (KPK) investigation of the Hambalang graft
scandal.
"I
feel that there is someone who is very close to Yudhoyono who has been in
special communication with the KPK and therefore, I asked Yudhoyono to stop
this kind of intervention," Anas told The Jakarta Post during an interview
on Tuesday night.
Anas,
the former chairman of Yudhoyono’s Democratic Party, said that he had told the
President that he knew about the aide’s alleged obstruction of justice.
"I
told Yudhoyono who the man was and about the operation known as Operation Solemnly
Silent’ [SS]," Anas said.
Anas
resigned as chairman shortly after the KPK named him suspect in the Hambalang scandal,
maintaining that he was named a suspect for political reasons. (dic)
